THE FOREST WE WANT

THE FOREST WE WANT

Forestry Commission > THE FOREST WE WANT

With financial support from the US-based Environmental Investigation Agency, the NGO New Initiative for Social Development has partnered with the Forestry Commission to evolve a Roadmap to help us plan priorities from now to 2035. The lead author, Mr Michael Osakuade, a former Federal Director of Forestry, engaged in a series of stakeholder consultations around the state, online with Ekiti people further afield, and with our own personnel, with the strong support of the Forestry Commission and of the Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Princess Iyabo Fakunle Okieimen. The report, launched in August 2021, identifies eight primary goals which can help to align Ekiti’s forest management with both local needs and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
