Biodiversity and wildlife

Forestry Commission > Biodiversity and wildlife

Ekiti State Forestry Law also mandates us with responsibility for Wildlife and biodiversity. Our Wildlife Department has a mandate to work with all stakeholders in this sector, including communities, conservationists, hunters, ornithologists, educational institutions, researchers and the general public. We have collaborated with Oxford University Centre for Environment for new research projects on biodiversity, tree cover and land use change. In order to get more current knowledge about the state of our wildlife in Ekiti State we are also supporting a Citizen Science biodiversity survey project designed by volunteer collaborators.
